[John Fishback] “As a card reader of many flavors, it’s very impressive. “

If all you need is a card reader, then the Sonnet Qio will probaby be what you need.

This nexto thing is a self contained BU system. No laptop needed.

Understood. But the Qio is more expensive. I’m still going with my normal field workflow of Duel, ShotPut and MBP. Just thought if there was an alternative to the Duel I’d consider it. As it is I carry 2 Duels to shoots – just in case.

The Qio is 999, the Nexto is 1999.

I didn’t realize it was so expensive. I had Googled it and found the following:

“Shopping results for Nexto Video Storage Pro

Nexto Video PRO 500GB Hi-Speed OTG Digital Backup Storage
    $533.99 new – Amazon.com
Nexto DI Nexto eXtreme Pro (128GB) w/Solid-State Drive (SSD)
    $626.95 new – B&H Photo-Video-Audio
    Nexto ND2725 160GB Video Pro 5400RPM 3GB/S Hard Drive
    $439.95 new – Buy.com”

Well I looked at both devices and had I known about them when we financed the package I would have probably considered them.

Since I was able to offload directly now, I think that wraps it for me. The copy function on the camera even has a verify function.

Just to check, does anyone think I would benefit from using Shotput and a puter or the Panny Management software and a puter rather than the cameras built in host copy and verify modes?

I think this has been covered, but it depends. If you can afford to tie up your camera, then it’s fine.

If not, then you need some other backup system.
