August 8, 2010 at 12:06 amIt would be helpful to know what camera does when a working MxR uses a low speed SHDC. Despite speed is unsufficient, does camera recognize MxR or not? What led does?

August 8, 2010 at 12:30 amYou’ll be able to format the card and it will be recognized. After recording for some time the card will throw a media error though. That can take anywhere from seconds to many minutes before that happens. The newest camera firmware makes this rare even with cards that used to be “iffy.”
I’d recommend using Sandisk Extreme Class 10 cards but there are a few other good ones. ATP Class 6 has a good reputation as well. MxR and MxM both have card recommendations on their web sites.
My recommendation is to put in matching cards in each slot and record straight through non stop. The next test would be a series of short records, deleting a clip periodically. Do this until the cards are full. If the card survives both the above tests it’s more likely reliable.

August 8, 2010 at 12:39 amThanks, very clear. My MxR is dead, then. 🙁
I’ll ship it back to B&H or e-films.
Thanks again for the help.
Ciao
Giorgio
