I came to this thread via a google search. My question relates, so hope it’s alright to add it here, rather than to a new thread. I have used the motionsmarts.com script in the past to convert Illustrator paths to Motion shapes. However, at this time, I no longer have access to Illustrator. I do have Vectordesigner. Are there any alternate means in which an outline of an object can be converted to a Motion shape, so that it can then be treated with Motion’s shape behaviors?

I just made an account after years of lurking to say THANK YOU MARK! You are awesome and your video from 2009 just helped me finish a logo animation the way I needed to. I really appreciate your help and the great content!

    Hi Mark,

Using the script you are hosting, the export appears to have worked successfully from Illustrator (file 73kb). However, I have been trying to import the shape (ship.motn) into Motion 5. Have tried dragging it into the Shapes Library, Content pane, to a layer, .. anywhere…. even opening it in a new project, but nothing appearing.

What is the right way to get the shape into Motion5?

    Thanks,
    Geoff

Is this script still available online somewhere? I went to both websites previously mentioned in this post, but neither of the sites are still active. Thank you!

This may be a silly question, but the file that is created from this script is a .motn file. When I look at how Mark would bring these shapes into Motion, he would do it through the file browser. It looks like the file browser is now gone from Motion and is replaced by the “import” function. So, this script doesn’t seem to work anymore. Am I missing something obvious? Thanks
