Did you know you can grab a chunk of content in FCP 1-7, and hold down option while you move it and it would do just like the magnetic timeline?

Yes, within the same track, it changes to insert instead of the default overwrite. But it doesn’t do anything for the other tracks, hence my T-T-T-T-ing all the time to select all things forward from a point to move them out of the way ahead of a multi-track chunk move.

    Best,

You can change the roles in the browser, too.

In FCP 7 I can grab 20 layers of chunk. Say the second half of my program. I drag it back to somewhere within the first half. Press N to turn snapping on/off for ease of placement. Now before I let go of the chunk, I hold option. You’ll see the arrow point to the right indicating everything is going to move to the right. Everything moves down. It’s not limited to one track.

Another one. Press T. Then hold down shift. 2 less keys than TTTT. I don’t think I press any of the tools more than once. Always a modifier.
