December 28, 2008 at 3:54 amIt isn’t 3D. It was an image layed over a “sphere” with the CC Sphere. To get the text to go around I did as you said and used the 3D text animation ‘Rotate Around Circle”. I will keep plugging away at it.
It will do what I need it to for quite some time, as the video gets compressed and hosted, so it won;t be that critical.

March 12, 2010 at 11:56 pmHi guys, I’m relatively new to After Effects. I have been able to make a rotating earth and some rotating text. For the life of me, I can’t figure out how to make it so the next does not show when behind the globe. I have searched for the last few hours and tried all sorts of stuff. Can anyone point me in the right direction. I assume the answer has to do with Masks, but I put in a mask it also masks out the earth.
Thanks

March 13, 2010 at 12:14 amDid you watch the video where I explain (or try to) what I did in this very topic?
I used a 3D text preset. No masks envolved at all.
Long story short:
1 – Precompose the earth layer and make it 3D.
2 – turn your text 3D as well and position it right in front of your earth precomp.
3 – Apply 3D Rotate around Circle (type it on your effects and presets tab and it should show)
4 – Adjust Z position and the scale of the text so it fits your earth (feels like a god doesn´t it? not really…haha)5 – It shall then work
Hope it helps.
Cheers.
