Thanks, I doubt that they will use uncompressed SD or HD so the pipeline could be just the ticket for them. Let me discuss with the client if they need uncompressed or if they are fine with a client MAC capturing over gigabit. I take it a machine needs to be connected to the pipeline to capture the incoming feed from it.

Did this exact thing using VirtualVTRs. Used the free remote App that can control up to 4 VirtualVTRs. To control more then for you need the Sienna version. I also like Telestream’s Pipeline but I wonder if one Mac can capture more then one stream at a time. If not, then you still need one machine per stream and a NAS or SAN to capture to the same volume.

According to Telestream one Mac can control multiple Pipeliens and you connect the Pipeline to the LAN and not directly to a Mac. As of version 5.1 of Episode I think Windows Machines can control a Pipeline also.

Note I’m just passing on the word, I don’t have hands on experience with the hardware. Depending on your needs it or a custom solution with xServes might be the way to go.

There’s also the MovieRecorder solution from Softron Media Services, it can also be controlled by MovieRecorder Control to control your 3 inputs.
