September 4, 2005 at 11:58 pmTimewarp is part of Xpress Pro for only set speeds. By using the bin of preset I supply on the website, you will be able to render since the Fluid Film engine is in Xpress Pro.
I need to check the 30i project and step through to give you a pattern. I always thought it was field 1 when stepping, but as I said, I am rarely if ever in a 30i project to tell you right off the bat. I hope to get on a system tomorrow for a little bit on Monday- I’ll see what I can find out.

I was wrong about Avid stepping– yes it is Field 1 we see when parked.
I’ve been looking at some high-motion moments in my 24P footage. When I step forward field by field, I can see that only 1 in 5 frames are composed of two different fields. The frame that follows contains two identical fields which match field 2 from that “interlaced” frame. The frame before it contains two fields matching field 1 from that “interlaced” frame.
I’m hoping this pattern indicates the footage was indeed shot in Advanced mode– a friend told me Standard mode footage would contain two sequential “interlaced” frames in roughly the same period and as a result, there will be one 24P frame that does not exist in both fields of any particular 29.97 frame.

September 5, 2005 at 10:24 pmThat appears to be ADVANCED. Only one video frame is made up of two different 24p frames when stored as ADVANCED on NTSC. In the case of NORMAL, there are two.
ADVANCED:
AA BB BC CC DD
NORMAL
AA BB BC CD DD
Avid would loge these as
A B X C D in both cases using the film/24p settings to designate ADVANCED or NORMAL. Check the CADENCE column for how the system was set when capturing (in a 24p or 23.976 project).
