May 9, 2011 at 1:48 amThanks, man.
I already have the 10.6.7 update, but I’ll check into the rest & do the NVIDIA update after I finish this project.
Strangely, as I went back to edit the piece, the red flashing had stopped. And, like the previous time I ran into it, it’s nowhere to be seen on the MOV export, which, just FYI, can be seen here: https://vimeo.com/stretchphoto/bulletscomment110422-19-14
I really appreciate all your help.
I start as an assistant professor of multimedia journalism at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana this fall. I have the FCP7 Level 1 certification, but I want to get the train-the-trainer cert. Any thoughts on that, in light of the coming advent of FCPX?

May 9, 2011 at 2:01 amWill do, though it will probably be after my thesis defense Monday,
after reuniting with my wife (from whom I’ve lived apart during the last 21 months of grad school) Wednesday,
after graduation Thursday,
and after we return from some much needed R&R in Belize.
🙂

May 9, 2011 at 9:40 am[Jessie Carlson] ” Now I can hear everything very well, but my video flashes bright red..as if some, actually a lot of, my frames were replaced with a big red box. “
I have the same with stuff converted from AVCHD to Prores.
That happens only in Preview. When rendering, no problem.
Is not a big issue.[Jessie Carlson] “Next, while I was googling that up, I saw someone say that rendering MPEGs is a no no.”
Rendering to MPEG-2 is not a no-no, but most times there are better options.
