No, the XL1 actually does shoot anamorphic video. If you were to just plug in the video RCA to a TV you would see a 4:3 image that is streched vertically (which is anamorphic). That much I can say with certainty.

Well it seems to working just fine…. I just have to go clip by clip and reset it for anamorphic. Pretty cool to be watching real 16×9 on the old HD screen for once. God help me if I every need to use real HD….
