December 13, 2005 at 8:13 pmI understand setting a reference level going out to a deck, but what about burning DVD’s?
If you are burning a DVD straight from your Final Cut machine do you raise the levels up to -3 peak.
THANKS,
RH

You can if you are SURE that the peaks will only reach the -3 point.
If your levels are running this hot, you are in danger of hitting digital clipping distortion.
Manufactured DVDs’ audio are highly processed and the levels are carefully managed.
