The OS being 10-bit and IO cards outputting 10-bit from the NLE have zero connection. FCP 7 output 10-bit video via IO. As did FCP 6….it’s nothing new.”
Well…. Isn’t this kinda like discovering that YOUR new vacation property has a beautiful stand of wildflowers that come out every year – something that makes you smile – and then telling your neighbor how nice it is, only to have them say “Well, it’s no big deal – WE’ve had wildflowers for the last five years too.
It’s kinda NOT the point.
While it’s lovely that you had this before. It’s STILL really nice that Brooks gets to ALSO have it in the workflow he’s living in and prefers RIGHT NOW.

“I kinda feel like Glenda the Good Witch here…”Ohhh, but Brooks, you’ve had this ability ALL ALONG!” Because he has. 10-bit via IO has been there for a long long time, I just needed to reiterate that point…As Nicholas said in his first paragraph, “Given that Final Cut Pro X already supports 10-bit video via hardware IO, I feel like it’s got to make an appearance in the viewers on this next update.”
So where you NOW see it is on your computer display. If you have a 10-bit computer monitor, that is.
Brooks just seemed to be excite that he now got it over IO…just saying, it’s pretty much always been there via IO.

There was some (legit) question about whether Premiere was actually outputting 10-bit video with IO cards like it was supposed to be:
