  • Better way to install FFDshow (xvid) codec?

Posted by Jonas Ankarstrom on May 16, 2010 at 9:07 pm

I useed to install FFDshow using the K-lite packs and i’ve been told that that can cause some codec problems. So, where’s the best way to find a “clean” way to install FFDshow?

    Regards

I tried that FFDshow version now from a completely clean install (of everything), and FFDshow now crashes Vegas every time i try to render to it. I’m using the same settings that i used before i just reinstalled Windows.

Is there anything “equal” to FFDshow for compressing videos for Youtubes, to make viewable files for friends ETC?

Also, does anyone know how to solve this problem with FFDshow? This isn’t the first time it’s happened, and the only way around it for me when it’s happened before has been to reinstall Windows. There must be an easier way… is there a setting in FFDshow that Vegas doesn’t agree with and that can be changed easily?

Ah, i got around the problem by just changing the FFDshow settings a bit! Good, now i don’t have to do a clean install. I’ll make a separate post about FFDshow settings! Thanks for the help!
