Plugins Not Working: Vegas 8, Windows 7
I’ve been using Vegas 8 with no issues on an older HP system with Windows XP. I just got a new dual-core system with Windows 7, 32-bit. I loaded Vegas 8 and am using it for multitrack audio recording. Although it works fairly well, it appears that my basic plug-ins are not working. This is Track Noise Gate, Track EQ, and Track Compressor. I can add other plug-ins like Reverb, Wave Hammer, Chorus, and they work fine, just as they should. But the three default plug-ins are not working. I can move the sliders and buttons, but there’s no effect. Everything works fine on the older XP system.
Not sure if it matters, but when I first loaded Vegas 8 onto the Windows 7 system, I had an issue where a Windows Help window would open any time I opened a default plug-in. I got the winhlp32.exe file from Microsoft and loaded it, so I don’t get the help window pop-up any more. But the three default plug-ins (Noise Gate, EQ, and Compressor) are still not working.
Weird. Any help is very much appreciated!

Are you using the last version of Vegas 8?.
If not, download and install the last update and see
if they are working. Also make sure your sound card is configured
