I have been using Vegas since it was sonic foundry so I have a small bit of knowledge about the program. I have recently upgraded my system. Windows 7, Quad core 2.3, 64 bit, 8gb of ram. My problem exist when I try to capture using this machine. It is the 64 bit version of Vegas 9.0d. When capturing hd 1440 x 1080 with my Sony HDR_FX1 I get poor results…video is choppy and often looses pixels and falls apart. Connected via firewire. I take the same camera to my old system…via firewire…Dual core 3.8mhz, 2 gb ram, Windows XP sp2, it captures flawlessly. I checked the preferences and they match between the two machines. Any advice? Thank you

The only two things that come to mind are

a.) There is an issue with 9.0d and you should roll back to 9.0b or 9.0 c
b.) There is an issue with the x64 version when connected to your camera and on the XP it will have been the 32 bit version.

As I don’t have a Sony HDR_FX1 I can’t verify of course but this might be something worth looking at – unless someone else has any ideas?!?

Just a thought, Terry. How many devices do you have connected in your firewire chain? Can you pull some of them off, just to see if it gives you more throughput?

I am using 9.0c 64 bit in Win 7 and have had no issues with firewire capture.
