Sony HDR XR 550 E(Hong Kong)
Hi,
Recently i bought sony HD Camcorder. The HD video is great. I tried to edit through Sony Vegas Pro 9. I connected the camcorder to my computer by USB cable. It was able to import through the software PMB given by sony.When I try to capture through Vegas it says no device selected.
Could you please let me know how to do the same.

Vegas is looking for a IEEE-1394 firewire device. usually a tape based camera. Your camera has a hard drive in it, so you should be able to see it from Windows explorer and copy the video files that way or use the Sony app that came with the camera to get the video on your computer, then import them into Vegas. As Danny said, you have a tapeless camera so you don’t need to “capture” anything. You just need to transfer the files.
Connect your camera via USB like you did and then in Vegas Pro 9.0 go to View | Device Explorer (Ctrl+Alt+7) and it should see your camera as a hard drive. Just click on it and it will show you the videos. Then select the videos that you want to copy to your hard drive and Vegas will transfer them for you.
