Much like everyone else here, I was excited to see that 9.0d has been released. But before I go out and blindly download the update, there are a few critical things I want to know:

    1. have they provided support in the 64-bit version for 32-bit plugins (such as Magic Bullet Looks)?

    2. have they fixed the dreaded “system low on memory” error that frequents the 32-bit version?

    3. I’m assuming it isn’t there, but when, oh when, are they going to support (if ever) the output of quicktime h.264 files? (I realize that Apple, not Sony may be at fault here, in which case the answer is ‘never’.)

And, I suppose if none of these things have been addressed, what sony support system do I need to email to complain about said fixes? ^_^

No and you will probably never see this. This defeats the purpose of using 64-bit. Red Giant has already said they are developing 64-bit for Adobe CS5. Let’s hope they don’t forget their Vegas customers.

    2. have they fixed the dreaded “system low on memory” error that frequents the 32-bit version?

They have fixed some of the low memory errors. 32-bit has it’s own set of memory limitations so it depends on why you are getting the low memory error. It could be inefficient memory use or even a memory leak in Vegas but it could also be a misconfigured PC that has too many cores and not enough memory per core.

    3. I’m assuming it isn’t there, but when, oh when, are they going to support (if ever) the output of quicktime h.264 files? (I realize that Apple, not Sony may be at fault here, in which case the answer is ‘never’.)

No, but it doesn’t seem to be an Apple issue since all of my other applications have no problems rendering to Quicktime H.264. 🙁
