what I want might be a bit too much to ask, I want to have bars flying together to create a logo the blow away, or bust apart. all while the camera is moving, going out of focus all that good stuff.

True question: know of any good tutorials that explain 3D in AE, as well as explain the different camera settings that are available?

I think you could find the “CC scatterize” and the “shatter” effect in After Effect useful. There was a very good tutorials on Creative Cow about 3D layers in AE but of course now I can’t find one specific for you (I’ll keep looking). The effects has a 3D look and feel to it, then I started playing around on it and got some interesting results.

    Have fun!

Shatter totally rocks. One of the better plugs ever created for AE. As you spin open the control, you’ll see it’s going to be neither easy nor simple. You will want to google every tutorial for Shatter you can find.

For camera tutorials, check out Rick GErard’s and Bill O’Neil’s tutorials here at the COW.
