DVD Quality
Hi friends!
I’ve done a search on this forum and have come up with a lot of good information, but I still need a little more help.I’m useing Vegas 9 Pro and DVD-Architect 5.0b. I’ve exported my project from Vegas as a DVD-A 24FPS Progressive file and separated the audio file as a separate AC3 file. The output of the video file is 720×480 24P with 3:2 pulldown.
When I play this file back in Windows Media, it looks great and it’s smooth. When I play it in DVD-A, it’s smooth, but the quality is degraded. When I burn it to DVD, the quality is poor and the image jumps. In fades and transitions, it skips pretty badly. At other random times, digital blocks appear on the screen in odd green colors.
When burning the DVD, the only things that are claimed as needing re-optimization are the title audio parts (which is a 30 second wave clip).
This is a 2+ hour concert so I’ve had to render at around 5.5 Mbps versus the higher 8Mbps. If I have to, I can split it to 2 DVDs, but I’d prefer not to. I could see how the quality would clearly be better, but the skipping and jumping shouldn’t make a difference.
Note – the skipping and jumping only occur on the DVD – they are not in the actual video files.
Please help!!
Best wishes,
Jeremy
