Many thanks to John et al for providing tips of dealing with unwanted camera hum in my documentary. I have been playing with settings in a trial version of izotope rx and the results seem fairly promising. One problem. With only a demo model of the software I cannot save and of course cannot marry the noise reduced sound clip with my video and render and burn to see the results. I am finding I can only get a vague idea if this will work or not.

I am going to ask if someone would be graciously willing to help in tackling my file in izotope rx and send me the results. If tried on for size it does indeed fix my issue you can bet I am ready to sign up and pay the big bucks for the izotope software. Unfortunately I have way too many files like this one that need to be rid of this same unwanted noise. Thanks very much for the great help I get here and I so appreciate what I have learned so far on the Cow.

Using screenies the kind person who takes on my file can do exactly what I did which “seemed” to work. Knowing those settings I used could be real helpful if I tackle similar files.

First if you can see by the red arrow, this is the section of unwanted noise I selected for izotope to use to “train” on.
If you look at the screen shot you can see all the settings I used to
    “apply” to the entire file.

Next REPEAT using the exact same settings as in the screen shot.

Finally at 0 .db I used the “smooth” function set at full 10 capacity which seemed to get rid of any “underwater gurgling” noise.

Thanks so much for helping Mr. new to Izotope RX aka

Please see attached file: SCP 1045 unaltered and to be treated in izotopoe

I would love to see if this actually works as well as it appears to and drop the finished file into Vegas next to my video clip. Thanks!

    Cheers!

Is this the “stuff” at around 23 >> 28 seconds? Sounds like wind on the camera mic. I wouldn’t class that as “motor” noise. Can you confirm what the sound – time IN and time OUT – that you want zapped? Then we’ll know just what we are referring to.

I have IzoRX and am willing to have a go at it.

    Grazie

Thanks for your offer to help Grazie.
Please take a look at the very first screen print I included. You can see by the red arrow specifically where the unwanted noise is. Its not wind (that happens later) its simply camera mechanical whine. In the screen print I show a great place where the noise is isolated. It happens about at the 15.45 – 17.50 second mark.

I dont have your email address and assume that I have to access this from a private function here at Cow. My email is: polytelismedia@gmail.com.

    thanks very much

PS: More than happy to receive more than one sample of help from anyone that wants to give this one a run.

    Thanks!
