MTS and M2TS files slow in Vegas 8.0c but M2T is great!
I just received my first HD camera – Sony HDR-AX2000. I did some research and downloaded some raw clips from the AX2000, which are MTS files, and they were slow in Vegas. I got the camera and yeap, still slow with a couple test shots I did and used in Vegas. Then, I used the Content Management utility CD that comes with the camera and converted the files to M2TS and the video comes out slow again in Vegas.
Then, I had a friend shoot over some raw video in M2T format and it plays flawlessly and great in Vegas (those clips were in 720 – the AX2000 doesn’t have a 720 setting just 1080 and 480). I was just wondering if it’s possible to get M2T files off the camera rather than MTS or if there is a way to convert from MTS to M2T. I just want to get M2T files! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I don’t know about conversion programs, but I have also seen very good performance from Vegas when working with M2T files. 8.0c did indeed suddenly make it possible to effectively edit these files. The performance under Pro 9 has lost this advantage. I have reverted to using 8.0c.

I was just wondering if it’s possible to get M2T files off the camera rather than MTS or if there is a way to convert from MTS to M2T. I just want to get M2T files! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
AVCHD UpShift by NewBlue FX will convert your AVCHD MTS files to MPEG2 HDV M2T files. Of course, you could just render these to M2T in Vegas yourself but it’s nice to have a batch conversion and AVCHD UpShift does this well.
