when i set up a project i tell vegas where to put the audio and video files and all works well. but if i close the file and revisit the project and add audio to it it automaticly places the file in a default c drive folder. is there any way that vegas will remember these settings without telling it everytime you open the file

Are you recording these audio files in Vegas? Vegas usually uses files from wherever they are on your hard drive. The only time Vegas saves an Audio or Video file is if you capture them in Vegas. Could be more specific about how you are telling Vegas where to put files and where are these files coming from?

When I set up a new project I go to properites then the audio tab and browse to the folder I want the audio recorded to. At this point any audio I record goes to that folder (I am using vegas as a studio recording program). However if I close the file and go back into the song at another date any new recorded files go to some catch all folder. I discovered this because my c drive went bad and I reformatted it assuming all the work I had done was on another drive. I now have several partial songs and very upset clients. I never would have imagined you would have to reset the properties each time you edit a project and I hope there is something that needs to be checked in preferences so this isn’t the case

What version of Vegas are you using? I cannot reproduce this problem with the latest Vegas Pro 9.0c. The audio always gets saved in the path that I selected in the project audio tab, even after closing Vegas Pro and reopening the project.
