  • Constant or variable bit rate?

    Hello.

I’m currently trying to make a dvd, and I really wanna get the best possible quality outcome, so im wondering if there will be any difference between using the constant bitrate at 9,8 or using the variable bit rate option? Also, should I render the mpeg file progressive or “Lower Field First”?

    regards, Darren.

If your file can fit on the DVD with a CBR of 9,000,000 then there is not a problem with doing that. VBR just allows you to fit more video onto the disc at a similar quality.

Also, should I render the mpeg file progressive or “Lower Field First”?

Valid DVD formats at 60i, 50i, and 24p. Unless your video is already 24p, I would not render progressive because your DVD authoring program will have to re-render it to 60i or 50i and re-rendering looses quality.
