I made a BIG mistake and shot some indoor footage while my cam was set to a white balance of 5.6k.

Of course, the result is that my footage is very orange-ish.

What is the easiest way to correct what I shot?

    THanks,
    Gilles

    Use the color corrector fx.

I would first try the secondary color corrector (click with the left pipet in the orange color and see what happens…)Repeat if you are not satisfied with the result.

…try New Blue Color fixer plus plug-in … nothing easier than that:
just place the dropper on a (supposed) white element of your clip and done… with adjustment that gives excelent results….

my 2 cents … good luck

Thanks for the tip in the NewBlue. I’m looking for a built-in (read: free) solution.

    Thanks for suggesting though.

“Thanks for the tip in the NewBlue. I’m looking for a built-in (read: free) solution.”

The suggestion I made to you earlier (secondary color corrector) is build-in in Vegas Pro and works exactly as the New Blue plug-in…

Funny you should mention it Theo, I was just testing it out as your post came in.

Yes, I think this will work very well. I’m finding it challenging to reproduce the original colors as I don’t quite remember what it was actually like.

Is there a way to say, “This here, I know was white so correct the colors accordingly?”

    Just try the left pipet…

Or use the left pipet under the right wheel of the normal color correction FX to click on something ‘white’

I would definitely NOT use the 2nd CC for overall color correction. Terry E hit the nail on the head.

Use the Colour Corrector (primary). Using the 2nd CC will only allow you to select a range of colours to affect. The Primary CC will be systemic and correct the WHOLE frame/video.

    To Recap:

1] Colour Corrector – Use: Systemic

    2] 2nd Colour Corrector – Use : Range

You could also use Colour Curves. 2nd colour corrector for this? It would drive me even more bonkers than I am.

If you want to see me using the 2nd Colour Corrector for use in Colour Selection go here and then maybe you will re-think – yeah?:

    Thanks Grazie,

I really enjoyed that video you provided in the link. I had no idea how to do this in Vegas.
