  • Apply transitions to multiple clips at once

    Hi,

Just starting out with SVP 9c. I have AMD Phenom 4x. I have about 50 1-2 mins clips that i add to the timeline. I have it set to auto insert a 1 sec transition b/t the clips. However, i need to apply transition effects rather than the default fade in/out. Other than clicking on each transition event, is there any way to add a transition effect (like blinds etc.) to all transitions on the timeline at once?

An aside item, sometimes when i hightlight all the clips in the explorer, and drag to the timeline, they do not always seem to be added in the order they are listed in the explorer. any idea why?

and for anyone looking to render from AVCHD Lite (I use Lumix ZS3, it is 720p), I have finally figured out how to get a good final HD output (for the most part). Let me konw if interested.

Yes. Select all of the events and drag the transition you want onto the first event. It will be applied to all of the selected events. (hint: you can select all of the events quckly by right-clicking on the first one and selecting Select Events to End from the popup menu).

Yup. Explorer is playing tricks on you. It has a nasty habit of adding the names improperly. It will always place the last name that you clicked first regardless of the order that you selected them in. The trick is to make the selection backward! So what I have found is the best way is to select the last clip, then shift+select the first clip and then drag the first clip (or press OK if you are in a file open dialog box).

We are interested. Why don’t you make it a separate post with an appropriate title like “Rendering AVCHD Lite from Lumix ZS3 Solution”. 😉

John, those are great tips, thanks so much.

I will follow up with a new thread on rendering.

Seriously, isn’t this just a general Windows problem? I’ve noticed all kinds of apps that display this kind of behaviour when selecting a list of items.

I adapted long time ago by learning to select backwards as you suggest; just please don’t tell me that some pointy headed Microsoft employee decided that this would make a great “feature.” :~)

Hi, i was playing around with adding files via the explorer, and they did not seem to follow any reasoning. it was not the last item checked or the 1st item, and they seemed to be different each time. I am going to play around with it more to see how it acts.

Hi, can someone explain me how to set to auto insert a 1 sec transition?
    Thank you

Hi, lost track of this thread, but even with the new version of SVP, I cant get the clips to load properly, the first one is always random no matter if i choose first or last clip. Anyone also come across this?

    Hi;

John, I’m having a devil of a time applying audio FX to multiple events. No matter how I try it – plug-in manager, for example, the effect is not applied to all the selected (or highlighted) events, only to one. When I drag it over to the highlighted vents, only the one the cursor is over “lights up” with a box around the event.

Been struggling with this for almost a week.

    Thanks,

    Steve

I’m seeing the same behavior. I guess adding audio FX does not work the same as adding video FX because this works with video FX. You might want to report the problem to Sony.
