  SV Pro 8 File formats for optium performance

  Hi, I’ve been struggling with this problem for a while, and thought it was due to my slow computer, but now that I’m on a better one (AMD Athlon ™ 7550 Dual Core Processor 2.50 GHz, 3.00 GB RAM, 32 Bit Operating System), I’m wondering why I’m getting the same problems. My objective is to be able to upload videos in good sharp quality (wmv) to youtube (animated edited videos). I need good playback on the preview window so I can edit and high quality for the rendered products. I’ve recently been using mpegs, which work well for editing but render in poorer quality. Any idea on what would be the best format (avi, wmv, ect, and the proper settings) to convert to? Or any idea on what my problem can be with slow playback in the preview window?

  You didn’t tell us what format your source footage is which could explain why your playback is not smooth. You’re Dual Core PC may be new to you, but it’s fairly old technology by today’s standards with Quad Cores being the norm for several years now. Especially if you are working in HD.

  In direct answer to your render questions I would leave the ancient WMV format behind and render to AVC MP4. Use the Sony AVC codec with one of the Internet templates in Vegas Pro 9.0 or if you only have Vegas Pro 8.0 make up a 3MBps progressive template for your format.

  Oh, I use mpegs, which worked well. But AVIs (coming from formats from torrents) and other wmv forms didn’t work. Hmm, well, I had assumed the computer isn’t much different from what the majority has, I just want HQ videos on youtube that don’t get all ‘pixelly’ at certain points, that are clean like other videos there (here’s a good example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtHiS_5XQ5g). So I’ll have to check if Mp4 is allowed to be uploaded there.
  I don’t understand why my computer can’t handle editing with the AVIs that my friend’s computer can though (who made that video) =/ I’ll get the specs on her processor.
  I’ll see if I can figure out how to create the ‘3MBps progressive template’. Thanks!
