sony vegas 9 pro quality problem
i just switched from vegas 8 to 9 a few days ago. i don’t get how this could happen, but the quality is HORRIBLE. then first time i opened it and imported a video the quality was bad, even if i put plain text on the track its still really blurry. i tried fixing the settings but nothing has worked. its not the videos, the videos are in good quality but when they’re put on the track vegas destroys it, could anyone help me with this and see how i could fix this?

Do yourself a favour and read all the Release Notes for Vegas Pro 9 as Sony changed the behaviour of several features that could cause the issues your experiencing.
These changes are also documented on page 1 of the Vegas manual.My guess is that it’s the following new feature:
Right-click the Video Preview window and select Adjust Size and Quality for Optimal Playback if you want to emphasize frame rate during preview. When the command is not selected, video quality is emphasized, and the frame rate will be reduced if necessary.

I was experiecncing the same problem, Vegas 9 preview was way worse at any setting that Vegas 8, So I stuck with V8, running on XP. then I loaded V9 on Windows 7 32 bit and it’s drasticlly better. Loaded a m2t file, preview full/best and it almost played real time. Don’t have a 64 bit machine to try that. Danny

I checked and that optioned is already selected. do you think it could be something else?

I’m almost positive that that option is where your problem is.
You don’t say what OS you’re running, what your CPU is or what kind of video files you’re trying to play back.
AVCHD, with an uderpowered CPU, is the worst.
What the option I described does is attempt to optimize playback based on your CPU power and type of footage being played.
Before Vegas Pro 9, users had to manually set the preview window settings and now it’s done automatically.
A lot of users have found that this will affect playback performance and therefore disable this new “feature” and go back to setting the preview window the way they used to do it.
Try it, see what happens and report back. -
sorry, i don’t really know the terms for these things. I have an XP system and i use AVI/WMV files. I did what you suggested and the ”adjust size and quality for optimal playback” option is selected but the quality hasn’t changed. i changed the preferences a few times and thought the ‘recompress edited frames’ option would be the problem but it made no difference.
