    Background Knowledge:
OS – Vista Ultimate x64 (running with 8gb ram and quad core)
Main Codec Pack installed – CCCP
    Vegas Version with Issue – 9c (x64)

So i upgraded to Vegas pro 9 recently and i started having a problem i used to get back on xp with Vegas 6, in that when i import a few video types i only get audio. However I dont think that the issue is a simple as a minor codec problem this time. When i got vegas pro 9 i decided to also get the 32bit edition as from experience (with photoshop cs4) i have found x64 programs to be very glitchy and not as nearly supported (with vegas this mean magic bullet looks :(), anyway, i installed both versions at the same time and both are 9c.

After i noticed this problem (which i’m not entirely sure was there when i installed) i decided to move over to the 32bit platform and see if the problem was there as well, to confirm a codec issue. When i did i was shocked to find that the same issue wasn’t one in this version of the software.

So now i’m confused, is there some sort of 32bit only codecs out there and should i be looking for x64 ones? I would really like to be able to use the 64bit version as i want to be able to utilize more ram so i can get to work faster (i can be very impatient when working on video). As i stated before im not entirley certain that this problem was there when i first installed it but it is now.

If anyone has any has any knowledge or ideas of whats going on here and how to fix it i would greatly appreciate your help.

I’ve run into the same issues (and a few more) with the 64bit version. Combine this with the fact that many of my 3rd party plugins don’t work with Vegas64, and (IMO) the 64 bit version is STILL not ready for prime time. I have since gone back to Vegas32.

Maybe a little annoying…. but then on the other hand I can’t think of too many other big name NLE providers that are successfully running 64bit systems anyway.

Maybe the next version will be ready?!?
