May 31, 2005 at 4:02 amI think a 3d model is not required,you can make a globe in AE.Here is a tutorial that tells you how to make it:

You can by the higher res files for only 5$also check out some similar Nasa images you can download for free:
Nasa’s Blue Marble site @ https://visibleearth.nasa.gov/click on the “See related Blue Marble imagery:” links to get other views
Some of them are ridicilously high-res 😎The trick is that these images are twice as wide as they are high,
just import one of those, drop them in your comp and apply CC sphere.
