I’ve been using Vegas for 6 years and still have this problem now that I’m at Vegas 9 pro. I render to .avi files and get lines, which I’m assuming are interlace lines, in the resulting video that show when anything in the image moves around (like people, even in small movements). I have always tried to remedy this by checking the “reduce interlace flicker” in the clip properties, but it doesn’t cure it. Clients may not notice, but it drives me mad because that’s all I can see when I show them their videos.

How can I eliminate these lines?

Are you seeing these lines when viewing on a TV or on a PC? You need to deinterlace if you are viewing the videos on a non-interlaced device like a PC. Just render with Field Order None.

Try setting your project settings to, Field order = None (Progressive)
Deinterlace method = Interpolate fiels, when objects move slow in the video or blend, if they move fast. Hope this helps, Danny

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! This worked, and frankly I’m embarrassed at my lack of knowledge, considering I’ve been working with Vegas since 2003.

There are things on various menus that I just blow past because I don’t understand them or what the options mean. I’m now looking at vaast’s video learning stuff.

Typically, I figure out a lot on my own and many tutorials make me go through the stuff I already know and don’t seem to cover the details like interlace lines that cause me nightmares. Any series you recommend I check out?

    Thank you once again.

Vaast is great! I have been using Vegas since it was audio only, Ver 1 and 2. I just read the help file, several times, as much of it I didn’t understand the first time through. I also constantly follow this Creative Cow forum. There’s some real experts at the top of the page that can answer pretty much any question you ask. Moooo!!
