Posted by Nancy Pinney on December 3, 2009 at 11:56 pmHi, I am having an issue with random underlying static in my final rendered mpeg2 file. Does anyone know what to do to avoid this??? Thanks!

I’m using the preset settings for rendering, set to the best quality. The files are clean…thanks for any help you can give me on this! -

December 4, 2009 at 4:33 pmI have been using Vegas for about 5 years now. I currently have version 8. In all versions since I started with version 5, I also have noticed that I occasionally get errors in the audio output. The errors appear and are heard on the video/audio timeline. I will load the file again and get the same errors in the same spots. I download my videos from the camera in standard def .avi format using Microsoft MovieMaker 2 since I have a problem using the Vegas interface with a Panasonic camera. When I get audio glitches, I check the original avi footage using Windows Media Player and no audio errors appear at the locations they appear on the Vegas timeline. If I render the footage from Vegas, the audio glitches are there in the output, whether I render in avi or MP2 format.
With that said, I would also be interested in seeing if anyone has a good answer for this occasional problem.

December 5, 2009 at 3:17 pmIt is a common practice for some audio plug-in FX to emit random static when they are in DEMO mode including Sony’s Noise Reduction plug-in. This is so that you can’t use the output without buying the plug-in. Just check to make sure that any audio plug-ins that you have used are fully licensed.

December 6, 2009 at 6:24 pmI don’t use plug-ins either, just the settings as they are set in rendering NTSC ‘best’ in Sony Vegas Pro 8.

December 6, 2009 at 11:28 pmVegas 8 audio tracks by default load with three pluggins, maybe one of them is causing your problem.
Click on the audio track header, effects icon and delete them and re-render. You never said if the original recording was pure and clean. Listen to the camera with headphones and check. Also open the original Video in Windows movie maker and listen for the static, just to rule out Vegas causing it. Danny
