I have seen this random problem reported here by other Vegas users with latest release 9.0c – clips on the timeline turning red. We have noticed this on two different workstations both in a standard DV and in HD properties setting. This happens at random. The clips have been 720 x 480 DV and/or AVCHD that have never been a problem before. Our systems are all quadcore, up-to-date edit stations. If you render that section you will get black but the audio is ok. Restarting Vegas and/or sometimes rebooting the system fixes it for awhile, but then a little later the clips turn red again. Before Sony upgraded Vegas capabilities to 4000 x 4000, many users had still images turn red if they were too large. Anyone?

I believe the consensus is that it is random, we’ve all encountered it, and closing Vegas and restarting it (maybe several times) will make it go away. Other than that. It’s a condition that Sony needs to fix and the hardest to fix due to it’s random nature.

I use OnLocation to capture HDV and it can capture as .m2t or.mpg. I’ve never had red m2t files but have had red mpgs. I still stick with Vegas 8 as the preview good auto is way better that V9 Danny
