I love the Levelator program. It’s especially good if you have one person talking real low and another talking real loud. I’m using it in a movie. The levelator works so well, though, that it will increase the volume in between people speaking, so make sure you record plenty of room tone that can be cut in in these places.

The Levelator is a nice way to quickly level out uneven volumes but if they are too uneven you will need to use some form of noise reduction to compensate for the noise floor.

    > How do you do it if you want to use dvd architect for making the dvd (I don`t want architect to compress my audio).

Then you should render your video and audio as separate streams in Vegas and use Uncompressed PCM WAV for the audio. Then drop those into DVD Architect and it should not recompress.

From their description: “Do you believe in magic?”
And they are correct. The Levelator does one thing only and it does it very well. It has rescued many an audio track that I used to take hours to manually repair. And it’s free.
