I’m using a media generator to highlight four lines of text. I type an underline (____) a few times, set font size to 360 (or whatever), adjust my color of yellow and my alpha channel, and put a Guassian Blur on the track where the media generator is. Then I set a simple start keyframe, and an end keyframe, and adjust the two so it scrolls along with the narration as desired.

Usually this is pretty easy, but this time the yellow highlighter started down below the text, scrolled down further, and then all of a sudden, about halfway through, it suddenly jumped up where I wanted it in the first place, and scrolled on down (but too fast). When I looked at the timeline, there was a dimple in the top edge of the media generator about halfway through, that seemed to correspond exactly to the time the highliter jumped up.

I deleted that media generator event and started over, and I found that if I extend out either edge of the media generator event it gives me this dimple again (which I don’t want). What is the deal with this dimple, and is there some way to shut it off/avoid it? I have not seen it before.

    Thanks.

If I right-click on the event and uncheck ‘switches > loop’, it seems to resolve the problem.

I think I can resolve this problem by unchecking Options > Preferences > ‘enable looping of events by default’.

It doesn’t make the dimple go away, but it seems like it does not loop any more.

Norman, the notch indicates that you have stretched the Event – here GenMed – beyond its default length. You do this you will get a Looping of the event. The BEST solution would be to set the GenMEd to actual length you require. Several ways to do this. IMO, the WORST solution is to set your Looping Preferences in Options to No Looping! – What this means is that whatever Media and Events you now place on the timeline, and you stretch beyond their length you WILL get a static end-frame! Try it with some video footage?

Better you set your GenMed length to what you want. This way you will know with certainty just WHERE to place your KeyFrames and HOW they should respond. I like designing-out errors.

    Grazie
