Has anyone used both Neat Video and the noise reduction feature in New Blue Essentials II ? I am wondering if New Blue does as good a job as Neat Video. I am thinking that Neat Video might be better, but it looks like it has a steaper learning curve. TIA, Jim

You can download the trial version of essentials II and decide for yourself which one you like most:

    Windows version:

    or for a Mac:

I agree with Theo, download the trials and try them on some of your footage. I have Neat Video and it does a very nice job if you can get a good isolated sample of the noise. Understand that this is all it does so you would expect it to be better than a plug-in that is 1 of 10 for less money. Still the NewBlueFX plug-in does a decent job in some cases. Like I said, you need to try them both on your own footage.

One thing I do not like about Neat Video as a company is that you must pay for every host you want to use. So if you use Vegas and After Effects (like I do), Neat Video expects you to buy their plug-in twice! And if you use Premiere Pro too, then you have to buy it three times!!! I think this is ridiculous and something you should be aware of. In contrast, when you buy a plug-in from NewBlueFX you can use it in any and all hosts that it supports for one price. IMHO, that’s the way it should be.
