Hi – I am extremely new to digital video editing. I have just downloaded a trial verion of Vegas 9.

I converted some of my camcorders high def files to a 640 x 480 AVI file format. When I import these files into Vegas I can only hear the audio and I can’t seem to get any video.

The file plays as it should in Windows Media player (Video and Audio)

I know that I must be missing something extremely basic but I can’t seem to figure it out.

If anyone has any ideas on what I might be doing wrong it would be greatly appreciated, cheers

    Rob

If they’re Hi def, you should edit them like that, then render as your desired format. Did you convert the files to 640 x 480 with Vegas? Do the HD files work in Vegas?

It sounds like you converted them to a codec that Vegas doesn’t support. I agree with Danny, why convert them at all? Why 640×480 which is 4:3 aspect when HD is 16:9? Maybe if you can explain to us what you are trying to do, we could suggest a workflow that works.
