  I want to import a previously burned mpg video from a DVD and edit it ( I edited it on Roxio years ago and need to redo it). Is it possible to import, edit, save and export to DVD without rendering (which would add more compression)?

  It depends on the edits. If they are just cuts then, yes, you can export it (via smart rendering) without re-rendering. If you add video FX then the parts with FX will need to be rendered.

  Thanks John. By the way, I installed VEGAS Seven on a laptop as a backup, but now when I try to open it, it closes immediately with no explanation from VISTA. I’m on a quad-core HP Pavillion with 4g memory. Ideas?

  I didn’t think that Vegas 7 supports Vista. I believe Vista support was introduced with Vegas Pro 8.0. That could have something to do with it.
