Anyone out there successfully getting a ‘realtime’playback out of Vegas from Blackmagic Intensity, Matrox Mini or other HDMI hardware device? From earlier postings, it seems as the Intensity output has only been successful to a limited number of Vegas users and there still is not a legitimate driver being offered from Blackmagic. The Matrox device is considerably more expensive, but can be moved around to other systems, including laptops (there is a card version as well). Grass Valley offers their Spark card, but am not sure if it only works with their Edius software. There may be other new offerings as well. Anyone?

I have no idea of your budget, but AJA makes SDI cards that are supported by Vegas, and they make HDMI to SDI converters. (Way out of my reach, though.)

Back when I was researching this, I found most of those guys hanging out on DVInfo.net. Try:

You might ask some of these guys.

Also, please go to Vimeo and look up Henry Olonga. He also has a web page. Interesting guy. I hope that helps.

Some of the new video cards (ATI 5800 series) have one DVI and two HDMI ports and with the ability to drive all three as separate screens. Might be cheaper than the AJA solution.

The latest issue of CPU Magazine just did a review of them.

Two of my self-built systems have Asus Mboards with (1) DVI and (1) HDMI on-board, but I use the Matrox Parhelia and drive (3)separate monitors. I’m looking for true real time HDMI I/O that the above mentioned cards/devices offer – they just don’t offer it for Sony Vegas – yet!
