n00b question: Can Vegas 9 open Vegas 8 files?
I know about 99% of you know the answer to this, but I’ve yet to try opening older vegas files with a newer version. I would assume the answer is yes, but I was just double checking. Thanks!

On the whole, yes. I have yet to have any trouble doing this. However, there maybe some plugins that have ceased development to make the jump. Or others you WILL need to download and update. But it would be financial suicide for this NOT to be available to users.
I believe the major issues have been for people going from 32-bit to 64-bit and the plugs not yet being made available in both flavours. I’ve stayed with 32-bit, and a 32-bit OS until I see more of the issues ironed-out. But that’s me.
Anyway, that’s been my experience. Why don’t you download a VP9 DEMO and see how far you get? Also read the “White Papers” for VP9 and provide yourself with some assurance/s?
