When I render my video, the preview quality is DVD quality, it looks awesome, but when you watch the rendered video, it is too dark, or the colours are wrong or something. Can anybody help?

Due to the gamma differences between a computer monitor and a TV set, you can never trust a computer monitor for colour or brightness/contrast accuracy.
If you’re serious about it, have an external video monitor hooked up to your computer.
It doesn’t have to be an expensive monitor either as a decent small TV set (with a video input on it) will help a lot.
If you have a miniDV camcorder that has a feature called pass-through, this is a cheap way to do it.
The camcorder can have a non-working tape transport as you only need the electronics side of it.

Try and use an extra Color Corrector FX.
    Template Studio to Computer RGB.
    Unhook before rendering.
