maybe this has been answered before… can Vegas (8pro) handle 720 60p files (from XDCAM-EX) nicely (no drop frames) ?… if this is the case, does anybody know how smooth will be slow-mo in Vegas with these files vs. 720 30p “overcranking” to 60 in camera ??

any comment would be greatly apreciated…

    kind regards

You will find that 720 overcranked will look MUCH better than 72060p
I cant tell much of a difference in quality in slowmo w/72060p or 1080 30p slowed down in vegas – but overcranked looks perfect in vegas and you can slow it down more and still looks great. Just beware that overcranked footage results in no audio. I just wish i could overcrank 1080

I’ve had very good success with recording 720p60 straight off the HD-SDI port on my EX1. Halving the framerate in Vegas is a little tricky because I think it will just throw away every other field, thinking it is 60i. Also, be careful for the tendency for vegas to auto resample.

thank you … I find very nice results dropping the 720 60p clip on the timeline (Vegas see the clip as 59.94 fps) and playing with the frame rate properties… right-clicking the clip and slowing down to 50% the frame rate …. yes, overcranking is better, but is nice to have a very nice alternative (720 60p) that you can record with the SDHC cards solutions ….

    thanks again
