I am having trouble importing HD tapes into sony vegas pro9. I am using a Canon Xh-A2 camera. The program will import HD video from the camera but when I turn the VCR on, the program does not recoginze it.

Dell duel xeon cpu’s with 4 G memory. I am using the firewire port.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Sometimes I have to first turn camera to “record”—allowing the computer to recognize it. Then, I turn it off–then on to “play”. See if this won’t help your computer recognize your camera.

Thanks for the input Dale. I have tried that and it didn’t work. I also tried my Sony HD camera and same thing. The program will recognise the cameras in shoot mode but not in vcr mode.

    Again, thanks

If you happen to be using Vegas 9a-64bit, try capturing in the Vegas 9a-32bit. I have found the 9a-64bit to be very quirky. The 32-bit seems to work fine.

I am referring to capturing, of course. After I capture in the 9a-32bit, I return to edit in the 9a-64bit.
