Hello!! I sure hope someone is able to help me..I have been struggling with this for over a week, checking the net, reading posts, experimenting etc..but I definitely neded help!

We recently bought a Sony HDR-XR200V digital HD video camcorder. We took it on our vacation and I have a good 8 hours of video to edit, add titles, menu and create a blu-ray disc. As I have vegas 8.0c, I assumed sony software/sony camcorder they should be compatible. To my dismass (rather distress) I discovered that in order to burn to blu-ray or a HD disc, it comes with its own software Picture Motion Browser (PMB). It is a very simple software that does not give a lot of options. You can edit and have a very simple menu. There is nowhere that one can add titles, few transitions or do any correcting at all. Here’s what I did: created 2 folders- one with the PMB software (files are m2ts) and the other copying the AVCHD folder which contains the BDMV folder and the MTS files in the stream folder. Using the AVCHD folder, I dragged some of the files to the timeline. (At this poimt, I want to make sure everything will work and quality is good before spending a lot of time editing etc.)

I went to properties and clicked the icon to make the project match the nedia settings.
I went render as:Save as file type:Sony AVC; Template: Blu-ray 1920×1080-60i, 16 Mbps video stream and let it render. (Properties on one of the files was: 00:00:22.522, 29.970 fps interlaced, 1920x1080x12, AVC) Wemt to DVDA (5.0a) and dropped the ac3 video in , changed properties to say blu-ray Disc setting and burned copy to Blu-ray disc.

I also burned a samll sample using the PMB software. Guess what.. the quality was better in the PMB than in vegas! In vegas there was a little studder a little jerking motion. Everything else looked about the same.

I am looking for advice as to what procedures/settings/workflow that I should be using. I should be able to produce the same quality as the PMB, shouldn’t I?

My computer stats:Windows Vista Home Premium (x64), 2 Quad CPU Q6700 @2.66 GHz, Memory 6142 MB RAM, Display NVIDIA Geforce 9500GS, 750 GB C:\drive (not even half full) and a second internal drive with 500GB.

I would certainly appreciate any help or suggestions anyone could give me!! I am thinking if I can’t get the same quality, I will just have to use the PMB program with no titles, boring menu etc. 🙁
    Thanks for any reponses!!
