September 29, 2009 at 12:11 pmErik – did you get a real solution to this problem? I’ve got the same issue trying to install movie studio 9 and tech support hasn’t replied since I said it’s a trial version. (trial not going so well 🙂 )
Thanks!

November 17, 2009 at 1:32 amNot sure if this will help you, but I got the same error message on my Macbook pro. Stumbled upon the solution myself:
I went back and verified the versions of EVERYTHING. yes, Snow Leopard, Bootcamp 3.0… but then I noticed when booting into Window 7 that there was an “N” after the Windows 7 name. “Windows 7 N”.
After some digging, I found that the European Union forced Microsoft to offer a version of Windows that does not come bundled with Windows Media Player and associated assets. Not sure how, but this is what my IT guy gave me!
I found the upgrade for the media pack here:
https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=31017ed3-166a-4c75-b90c-a6cef9b414c4After installing this, the Vegas Pro 9c install went smoothly!
I happen to be running on a Mac, but I believe this error would have occurred on any PC running an “N” version of Windows.
