  • GPU Recommendation?

Posted by Jeff Sabol on August 7, 2009 at 7:02 pm

    All:

Which graphics card would be better for HD video editing using Vegas Pro 9:

    1. Nvidia Quadro FX 1800, or
    2. Nvidia GeForce 275

CPU is Intel Core i7 920. (My camera is PMW-EX1 so format is XDCAM EX).

    Thank you, in advance.

Neither. Vegas doesn’t take advantage of the GPU so get a $49 graphics card and it will be just as good. Unless you have other applications that can take advantage of those cards you are wasting your money. I’m serious, I have an nVidia Geforce 8600GT ($49.99 at NewEgg.com) and it works perfectly fine.

As John said, GPU don’t matter. But I recommend a dual display card, even if you only have one display now.

Once you’ve edited with two monitors, you will never go back to one.
