Duel screen but not using 2nd Screen for preview
I am trying out Vegas but come from an Avid background. Firstly I would like to say that generally it seems great.
I used to set up Avid with the timeline/preview/trim window in one monitor and everything else on the other (effects/bins/capture/colour correction…). When you Start Avid if you have 2 screens connected it actually maximises across both screens which is great.
I have tried stretching Vegas across both window but don’t seem to be able to move things around much, I am using Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum Pro Pack. Am I missing something? Maybe I need to give Pro a try, do people think that would help. The main reason I want to do this is to have lots of room for the bins.

I’m using vegas pro 9.0 in 2 screens and works wonderfull, you can customize as you wish.

The Vegas GUI works a little different. Instead of stretching it across two screens, just maximize it on one screen and then drag just the windows you’d like onto the second monitor. (there is a little drag area in the upper left of each window that is 6 small vertical dots) It sounds like AVID uses an MDI interface where all of the windows must be within the parent. Vegas allows you to drag many of the windows off of the parent and dock them separately. In fact, they will dock to each other and create new dock collections. The timeline is the only thing that must remain in the parent window. Every other window is dockable either within the parent or outside on the second monitor.
