I noticed one day when opening Sony Vegas Movie Studio 8 that every one of my Vegas files had a problem with it. In every one of them, all of the video clips had turned red and the audio that accompanied them was offline. Any titles and audio that had no video to accompany it were fine and still online. The red video clips wouldn’t show in the preview screen. I also noticed that when I opened a Vegas file, it took much longer to open then it normally would. Please explain what could be wrong and thanks for your time.

I would update to the latest version of Movie Studio 8c. This is a problem that Sony has been addressing with each new release. The red frames means that Vegas can’t read the file for some reason. You might want to contact Sony support but they may tell you to upgrade to Movie Studio 9. You might want to download the trial of Movie Studio 9 and see if it has the same problem with the project. Good luck.

I’m very new to SV but I had a similar problem for which I think I may have stumbled across a solution – try renaming the source clip and see if the redness goes away.

You’re a genius, thank you so much. Renaming and then submitting the new file location fixes that horrible problem. THANKS!!!

    Hi!

This fix worked – thank you!
My daughter was having the same problem and it was driving her nuts, which was driving me nuts in turn – so I’m doubly grateful.
