I’m pretty new to the program, but everytime I’ve rendered my project before, as an .avi, it has worked fine. Then, randomly, after I rendered it, all it would play was the audio. I don’t understand how this has happened. I don’t think I did anything differently to it than the first few times I’d rendered it…
Any suggestions as to what the problem may be?

Can you analyze this last file you rendered, the problem file, with a program called GSPOT? You can download it here:

If you place a screenshot from the results on this forum, we might be able to tell you what went wrong.

It says a codec is needed…

What codec did you use to render? I’m guessing you used mpeg2 and tried to play it in windows media player and you may not have this codec installed. If so, render it using mpeg1 or you can download a vlc player(just google it) and this will play your mpeg2 media.

It would be helpfull if we could see the results from GSpot.
