  • Help – Vegas won’t recognize my camera / MPG file

Hi there. I’m using Vegas 9 & I’m a total newbie at this so please bear with me.

When connected via USB to my PC, Vegas isnt recognizing my Sony DCR-SR85 camera and the program itself isnt allowing me to drop individual MPG files into the program. Is it possible that Vegas just wont read my camera & more importantly, am i going to have to convert the MPG file into a file format that Vegas recognizes ? I dont want the quality to de-grade with a conversion however if that’s my only option i’ll give it a shout.

I’m looking to make a DVD incorporating a matrix of the camera audio and a second source.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Since your camera contains a hard disk drive, shouldn’t you first copy your files to the harddisk from your PC (e.g. using windows explorer), then open Vegas and drag the files onto the timeline. Then their is no need for Vegas to recognize your camera.
