  splitting the capture

  I’m capturing some HDV video from my Sony HDR-HC9..

  When I capture the video, I keep getting little stutters in the capture, as if it has detected a scene break. I thought it was just dropout, but if I watch the video as it’s capturing (both on the camcorder LCD screen and vegas’ capture window) the video is smooth with no breaks..

  I deleted all the captured media and started all over, and this time I got the same breaks but in different places.. The capture utility says ‘0 dropped frames’..

  I have tons of hard drive space free..

  ?

  Try turning of scene detection in the capture window preferences. This should give you one continuous file although sometimes it does make random breaks (which is what you may be experiencing?).

  Yes, that is what I’m seeing.. I have scene detection turned off, yet I keep getting splits in scenes.. It wouldn’t be that big a deal, but there is a jump in the video, like we are loosing 20 frames or so.. I don’t understand why this is happening.. The video is clean and clear and uncut from beginning to end, and the capture utility says ‘0 frames dropped’..

  I guess I can try another video capture utility..
