    Good afternoon all,
Curious to know your favorite methods for ‘keying skin tone’ in AE CS4 without additional plugins etc….?
Not getting great results pulling a matte with Keylight or Color Key.

    All thoughts most appreciated.

    Cheers,

    J

Well favorite and usuable are two different things. There’s different ways. In order of speed opposite quality.

    1. hand roto (slowest, best)
    2. Mocha tracking (slow, good)
    3. color finesse secondary color picker with mattes. (instant, no guarantees)

Thanks Chris…….. #3 on your list most appealing for minor overall tweaks how ever how would we achieve this without Color Finesse??

    Cheers,

Not a direct answer to the question, nor am I the original poster, but Color Finesse comes with AE so you wouldn’t have to buy it… it’ll be under Synthetic Aperture in the effects menu.
I think maybe you have to install it separately (?) but if so, it should be on your install disk.

    Hi Stuart,
    Thank you for your post.
Surely with out third party plugins AE is capable of pulling such a simple key?
I have got most of the way there with Keylight however tweaking the sample based on hue &/or saturation independent of luminosity is not possible.

    Cheers,

    J
